A draft bill to amend the Copyright Act, No. 73/1972, concerning the penal framework for violations of the Copyright Act has been published in the Government Consultation Portal, see https://island.is/samradsgatt/mal/4201. The bill proposes that a new paragraph be added to Article 54 of the Copyright Act, stipulating that for large-scale or repeated violations of copyright law, the maximum penalty may be 6 years of imprisonment, whereas under current law the maximum penalty is 2 years.
